Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Within the Church people appreciate different forms of worship and we value being able to offer a diversity of styles in our services, to enable people to encounter the living God and express their worship.
Holy Communion is celebrated on a monthly basis in the morning and evening services; and everyone who would like to is welcome to share fully in this meal that helps us remember God’s love for us through the death of Jesus.
This service is geared towards all ages and uses more contemporary music, media and performing arts. Most Sundays we have a short time of worship together before the children and young people move into Sunday Club. There are groups for children aged 3 to 16. Family services are held throughout the year when all ages worship together.
A crèche is available throughout the service at the back of the church for children aged 0 to 3 years. The crèche features a live video feed so you don't miss anything.
The Sunday evening service aims to utilise the best in traditional Methodist Worship. It has been said that Methodism was ‘born in song’ and with the aid of a beautiful pipe organ, the congregation enjoy singing its faith and hearing the good news proclaimed through our preachers.
Our Sunday services include Bible reading and a sermon (usually between 20-40 minutes) based on the bible readings. Sometimes we use the Lectionary - a set group of readings for a particular day - and at other times we follow a themed set of readings.
Rewired is our more informal approach to church. At Rewired we have a number of opportunities to pray, worship God, and listen to his word. As a team, our heart is to see God meet with his people and to see God's kingdom grow here in Rowlands Gill. That is why, one of our priorities at Rewired is simply to create a space for the Holy Spirit to move and meet with people.
Everyone is welcome; there is no age limit. If you would like to know a bit more about Rewired you can follow us on the Rewired facebook page, where there will be regular updates about the group itself and the number of different events and organisations Rewired is involved with.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Every Sunday a few of us meet in the creche for prayer. We meet at 8am and pray for whatever we feel led to, don't worry, as much as we would love you to, you don't need to turn up at 8! You are more than welcome to arrive any time from 8 to 10:45 and can stay for as long or as short a time you want! It really is as simple as turn up, pray. We will be there every Sunday. All are welcome, Hope to see you there!
10 - 10.30 am (first Wednesday of each month)
Come and share in a short communion service with space for prayer and reflection. Coffee after the service
Messy Church is a great opportunity for families to come along and share together in fun games, crafts, music and Bible stories. Messy Church is open to all families, and there is certainly something to do for everyone, from crafts to coffee, this is a fun afternoon for all. At the end of Messy Church we all get together in the Small hall to eat a meal together. Doors open at 3:30pm, finishing at 5:30. We'd love to see you there.
On the Sunday nearest to the festival of All Saints we have a special service at Strathmore Road during which we remember those who we know have died during the last two years. At an appropriate moment in the service each person is remembered by name and an opportunity is given to light a candle in remembrance. Everyone is welcome to this service and if you would like someone mentioned by name during the service please let Alan know. Refreshments will be served after the service.
If you are enquiring about the possibility of being married at Strathmore Road Methodist Church, our Minister would gladly meet with you and talk things over. We would want to make your wedding day as meaningful and personal as we can, and we shall warmly welcome your guests and family into the church.
Christian Marriage is, of course, more than a ‘church wedding’, it is publicly recognising your commitment and love for one another and placing your married life into the hands of God. This is done through the promises and prayers of the marriage service.
And as a church community we would want to offer you our support and prayers, during your preparation and as you begin your married life. For further information, please e-mail the Minister using the contact form.
We offer 2 services to parents who would like to have their child Christened at Strathmore Road Methodist Church, infant baptism and a thanksgiving service. Our usual practice is to include Baptism and Thanksgiving within our 10.45 am Sunday worship.
Infant Baptism is the traditional practice of the Methodist people in welcoming children into the life of the Church. Baptism is a sign of God’s grace and love for us. Before we choose to love God he has already declared his love for us through the life of Jesus laid down for us. In this service the parents and congregation affirm their faith and make promises to bring up the child in the Christian Faith.
Baptism marks a new relationship with the church and the church promises its support to the family and the child being baptised.
Some parents feel, on reflection, that a service of Baptism is not the most appropriate service for them and their child. The service of Thanksgiving is an opportunity to give thanks for the birth of a child and to recognise that the family has been blessed.
If you would like to have a Baptism or Thanksgiving service for your child, or would like an opportunity to talk more about which service will suit you, then please contact our minister, Alan.
