Our buildings on Strathmore Road have been closed since March but the church continues to be open as we worship together on-line (South West Tyneside Methodist Circuit youtube channel); as we meet together using Zoom and WhatsApp; as we serve the community via the local foodbank.
We are pleased to confirm that redevelopment work commenced on our church premises on 29th June. The link building between the church and halls has been demolished and the existing buildings have been stripped out in preparation for new installation work which commenced in August. Foundations for a new link building are underway and have received structural steelwork erection to support a new roof which will be closely followed by the installation of new building services (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) throughout the premises. Our Contractor has estimated an 18 week programme to complete all work by early November.
As you can see if you are passing the buildings, there is plenty of activity in and around the church property but also there is work going on behind the scenes as we finalise our interior design and technical audio/visual proposals. We have started but we still have a long way to go and therefore your continued prayers and support for the wider project team working on the development are appreciated.
If you want to see the plans or contribute financially, see this earlier post.
