Like lots of people during lockdown I have come to appreciate - notice even - the area on my doorstep. I have always noticed the garden and the birdsong but I’m not particularly knowledgeable about what lies beyond that. I tend to travel to other places. When you have a baby you tend to pack in visits to parks, soft play, swimming pools and libraries for the child and for your own mental health!

So when lockdown was announced I have to admit to having a sense of dread. How will I occupy a toddler when I can’t take him anywhere?!

My day at the Bridges’ Walk, 

We have been running Messy Church at SRMC for over two years. Several people recently have commented they don’t really know what it is.  The greatest misconception is that it is a children’s group – it is in fact a different way of doing of church.

Here is some background information:-

The first Messy Church began in 2004 in Portsmouth. They were frustrated because, as a church, they were hardly reaching any children with God's story.

It’s now coming up to one year since I started in the the role of ‘Schools and Children's Worker’ for SRMC.

Reflecting on that year, it’s amazing to see the adventure Jesus has taken us on. Throughout the
year He has revealed himself to us as a team and our children in new and amazing ways. He has opened doors into schools, blessed us with new children and so much more. God is truly moving amongst our children at SRMC, He is building up amazing disciples, raising up strong leaders and growing our family.

Hello! I’ve been asked to give you all a quick update on the work I’m doing, so here we go.

I’m now about 6 months into the job and things are really beginning to pick up and my diary continues to fill up.
